Rocky Linux Network Issues

If you install the minimal version of Rocky Linux you may find out that your networking is not working. You will see things like “name or service not found” when running the ping command. You may run ifconfig and see that the machine isn’t pulling a dhcp address.

The issue appears to be with NetworkManager. I will admit that I am new to it. I typically have configured networking using the raw network configuration files. The good news is that there is a tool called “nmtui” that is installed to make configuring NetworkManager easier.

Select Edit a connection, then your interface name and “edit”. Once you do that you should see something similar to the following.

Make sure “Automatically connect” is enabled. Then exit out of the program and reboot the machine. It should start working.
